The Minigolf Association of Odisha (MAO) is the recognized state-level body governing the promotion, development and administration of Minigolf in Odisha.
Players from our state have been playing this sport for over eight years. With Minigolf included in the 37th National Games at Goa in 2023, a team of 14 players was selected to represent Odisha.
The association works actively to identify talent, conduct tournaments, organize coaching camps, set up district-level associations, and engage schools, colleges and universities. MAO is affiliated to the Minigolf Federation of India and works in alignment with the World Minigolf Sport Federation.
Minigolf is played as a recognised and registered sport in over 64 countries worldwide and is governed by the World Minigolf Sport Federation. There are about 1,000 approved tournament courses and 900 clubs worldwide, with over 1,500 tournaments held every year.
In India, Minigolf is recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. There are 30 state and union territory level associations, with most states having district-level associations as well. Championships are held in sub-junior, junior, youth and senior categories for players from 7 years of age, with no upper age limit.
Minigolf was included as a sport in the 37th National Games of India, held at Goa in 2023.
With stellar performances at the National Games and National Championships, Team Odisha has raised the bar high. The association aims to build on this momentum for the National Games 2027 and beyond — identifying talent across districts, expanding participation through educational institutions, and maintaining Odisha's position among India's leading Minigolf states.
